Doctor Biography

Dr. Ashraful Huq  is a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist practicing at Bangladesh Eye Hospital & Institute in Dhanmondi & Banani and Bangladesh Eye Care Hospital in Zigatola. With a focus on Phaco surgery, LASIK, SMILE, ICL, Refractive surgeries, Keratoconus and Cornea transplant surgery, Dr. Huq is a leading expert in these fields.

Dr. Huq earned his MBBS degree in 2007 and achieved FCPS (Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons, Bangladesh) in Ophthalmology in 2015. FACS (Fellow of American College of Surgeons) of Ophthalmic Surgery in 2022. With a solid foundation in medical education, he further honed his skills through four years of professional training in Ophthalmology. Dr. Huq's dedication to continuous learning is evident through his completion of long-term fellowship in Cataract Refractive Surgery. 

Having received training in Phacoemulsification surgery, Glaucoma management, Cornea services and Refractive Surgery from prestigious eye institutes in both Bangladesh and India, Dr. Ashraful Huq is equipped with advanced knowledge and techniques. He underwent Cornea & Anterior Segment training at LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, India, LASIK training at Narayana Nethralaya, India, SMILE training at Prasad Nethralaya, India and Penetrating Keratoplasty training at Bangalore West Lions Eye Hospital, in collaboration with SightLife, USA.

Dr. Ashraful Huq's areas of expertise include Cataract, Cornea, Keratoconus, Glaucoma, LASIK, SMILE, ICL and Refractive surgery. He has been recognized for his contributions to the field, including several presentations at national and international conferences. Notably, he was awarded the Best Paper Award at the 14th Biannual SAARC Academy of Ophthalmology Conference held in Nepal in 2018 and the Best Young Ophthalmologists Award at Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology APAO Congress in 2021.

Dr. Huq is not only passionate about providing exceptional eye care but also committed to giving back to the community. He has been actively involved in posthumous eye donation awareness campaigns in Bangladesh since his medical school days. Currently, he serves as the Honorary Executive Director of the Bangladesh Eyesight Foundation, which aims to establish a functional eye bank in Bangladesh.

Dr. Huq's expertise and commitment to advancing eye care have made him a sought-after speaker and faculty member at various conferences, workshops, and CME/CPD programs. He has contributed to global ophthalmology events, including the Global Ophthalmology & Glaucoma Conference in Malaysia, the Ophthalmological Society of Bangladesh Conferences, SAARC Academy of Ophthalmology Conferences, Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons Conferences and Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology.

As the Founding President of the Bangladesh Young Ophthalmologists Society, a life member of the Ophthalmological Society of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons, the Bangladesh Cornea & Refractive Society, the Bangladesh Glaucoma Society and an associate member of the Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons, Dr. Ashraful Huq remains at the forefront of advancements in the field of ophthalmology.
